Building the Marketing Foundation for 3Fish’s Next Phase of Growth

For nearly 50 years, 3Fish has built its reputation through consistency, accountability, and food production excellence. Based on the North Carolina coast, the company develops ready-to-cook meal solutions across seafood, poultry, and meat.

As 3Fish expanded its presence with category managers at grocery chains, the company partnered with Upstream to strengthen its marketing and better support sales growth.

The Challenge

3Fish had strong operational credibility and a diverse product portfolio, but many of its value propositions had never been clearly formalized. Brand positioning was absent, and the company needed more engaging sales materials to support its growth objectives.

For buyers, the company’s product philosophy, manufacturing excellence, and collaborative development approach were not always immediately visible.

3Fish also needed an external partner who could provide both strategic direction and execution, someone capable of leading the development of their marketing while allowing the leadership team to remain focused on operations and new business development.

We began with primary research, conducting interviews with buyers and internal stakeholders to understand how 3Fish was perceived in real retail environments and what matters most to category managers.

These conversations highlighted three priorities: strong eating experiences, dependable execution, and partners capable of translating ideas into retail-ready solutions. These insights shaped how the 3Fish brand and value propositions should be communicated.

Product Catalog

To support trade shows and buyer conversations, we developed an engaging product catalog, one of the most critical marketing tools in the category. The catalog introduces the company’s mission, leadership, and product offerings across several categories. The design helps category managers quickly and memorably understand both the products and the thinking and process behind them.

Marketing Material

We collaborated with the 3Fish team to develop a presentation template they could repurpose across a wide range of sales conversations. Working together on messaging, we develop engaging content supported by a compelling visual design.

We also designed the trade show booth graphics to create a strong, head-turning presence on the show floor.

The Results
